In The Shadow Of The Moon
December 17, 2009
If you haven’t seen this film yet, then do yourself a big favor… Take an hour and a half out of your schedule sometime and check it out… It’s a story about how the human spirit soared into the night sky and went beyond what we knew, in search of heavenly wonders and new possibilities. However, what we really discovered upon our return home was the wonder of our own world.
Isn’t it funny the way we sometimes look for something that we haven’t got… And only upon searching for this missing something do we realize that we always had it just under our noses.

[...] A work of fiction, written by Aldous Huxley, that I found particularly inspiring to this point, is entitled “Island.” While I am certainly not recommending the recreational use of psychedelic substances, I would encourage their controlled use within society so that we might feel a stronger link to the essence of our pattern here on Earth i.e. that we are nothing more that an array of chemicals which have cascaded into a pattern of “Life” like animation, with a delusion of “self” which is encumbered with such heavy, single minded modes of understanding, that we all seem to be blinded to the obvious truth of our circumstance i.e. that when everything is placed into perspective, Life is no way near as mundane nor as aggravating a…. [...] To be fair though, at the time I really did see her point i.e. that until one is truly enlightened, all our actions are somewhat based on self centred tendencies that – while they might be considered to be for the benefit of all living and sentient beings here on Earth – are ‘actually’ rapped up in pride and self obsessive tendencies, like “aren’t I good for helping the environment out!” kinda thing. Even so, my heart and intuition was telling me that despite what other say about my actions, this is even more important. When I finally got home that evening and sat down with a cuppa in my hand after meditation practise, I realised if someone didn’t make the effort, then all sentient beings would suffer greatly at from the whiplash caused by the chaos naturally inherent in ‘our’ dynamical weather system here on Earth… [...]
